Venessa Miemis

Venessa is a creative troublemaker and provocateur. Her background in psychology, design, and social theory have informed her inquiry into the human condition – how we understand the self, make meaning, and create and communicate a shared experience of reality. She loves to immerse in complex issues and develop collective narratives through which to understand them.

She earned her master’s degree from the New School for Social Research, where she focused on cybernetics and the impact of social technologies to influence human thought and behavior. She developed the widely followed blog, Emergent by Design, which became a hub for futures thinking and public discourse. She helped to coalesce a 3,000+ global community of change agents online, and organized a conference in NYC to celebrate the potential of networked technology to transform commerce, learning, and society. Her views and projects have been featured in leading media outlets such as CNN, Fast Company, The Huffington Post, Forbes, and BBC, and her visionary ‘future of’ videos have been presented at conferences around the globe. Venessa has embarked upon a multitude of voyages of self discovery, experimenting with meditation, plant medicines, sex, and sound to aid in piercing the veil of consciousness. She is finding neurohacking to be a welcome addition to her toolkit.
