Sara Adaes has been a researcher in neuroscience since 2003. She developed an interest in neuroscience while still studying biochemistry at the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Porto, in Portugal, which led her to pursue her first research studies in the field of neuropharmacology. She then moved on to study the neurobiology of pain at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Porto, where she got her PhD in neuroscience. Her training gave her the chance to study a wide range of topics within the scope of neurosciences. She has been applying this knowledge to science communication, of which she is an enthusiast.
Sara believes that knowledge is empowering. She thinks that increasing the public awareness of science and medicine provides tools for people to improve their lives, and she wants to contribute. She sees science communication as a way to use the skills she has acquired as a scientist to make scientific knowledge accessible to everyone.
