Red Orange ComplexTM is a standardized fruit extract made from the juice of three pigmented varieties of Sicilian blood orange (Moro, Tarocco, and Sanguinello) grown exclusively in a particular area surrounding Europe’s most active volcano, Mt. Etna in Sicily. Many of the bioactive compounds of Red Orange ComplexTM are antioxidants. Antioxidants are important for all of our tissues. As a single example, they play an important role in supporting skin health. For example, a red-purple pigment found in red oranges called cyanidin-3-glucoside (or chrysanthemin) is a major anthocyanin with a number of biological activities that support skin physiology. Hesperidin is a citrus flavanone that supports the skin in adapting to environmental stress. Ascorbic acid (vitamin C) is found in high concentrations in healthy skin, where it is essential for the production of collagen and supports the free radical-scavenging capacity of the skin.* Red Orange ComplexTM is standardized to contain all of these compounds and more.
Red Orange ComplexTM is a standardized extract that contains 2.8-3.2% anthocyanins (cyanidin-3-glucoside), 1.8-2.2% hydroxycinnamic acids (caffeic, cumaric, ferulic, sinapic acids), 8.5-9.5 % flavanones (hesperidin, narirutin), and 5.5-6.5% ascorbic acid.
Red Orange ComplexTM is made from the juice of Moro, Tarocco, and Sanguinello Sicilian blood oranges. It is produced by Bionap, a company that produces standardized botanical extracts obtained from plants and fruits growing in the areas surrounding Mt Etna UNESCO World Heritage in Sicily.
Red Orange ComplexTM is non-GMO, vegan, and Halal certified.
Red Orange ComplexTM is a trademark of Bionap USA, Inc.
Red Orange ComplexTM has been used in 6 human clinical studies (the company that makes this citrus fruit extract is committed to scientifically studying it and is continuing to fund additional research). In four of these studies, the dose used was 100 mg daily (2 of the studies used a lower dose of 80 mg). We selected the amount of Red Orange ComplexTM to use in our formula to be consistent with the most common dose used in human studies, and with the dose recommended by the company that produces this extract.*
