Additionally, foods like walnuts, olive oil, avocados, and olives can contribute to the intake of oleic acid. Prioritizing these nutrients can help quell brain fog

Another important aspect of brain health is the gut-brain axis. Ben discussed the role of polyphenols in supporting gut-brain function and metabolism. Polyphenols found in dark-colored fruits, vegetables, and plant-based sources can help reduce permeability of the blood-brain barrier and increase the production of neurotransmitters. Prioritizing a diet rich in polyphenols can have a positive impact on cognitive function.

Addressing Lipopolysaccharides and Leaky Gut

Lipopolysaccharides (LPS) are endotoxins that can accumulate and cause inflammation in neural tissues and impair cognitive function. Greenfield highlighted the importance of avoiding meals that cause a surge in LPS, such as high-fat, high-carbohydrate foods or alcohol. He recommended using activated charcoal, glycine, or spirulina as a means to counteract the effects of LPS when consuming such meals.

Ben also discussed the importance of addressing leaky gut, which can contribute to the accumulation of LPS. He suggested a leaky gut protocol that includes the use of colostrum, glutamine, bone broth, and peptides like BPC 157. These interventions can help heal the gut and reduce permeability, leading to improved cognitive function.

Exploring Nootropics for Brain Performance

Next up in the discussion was an in-depth discussion of Ben’s favorite nootropic ingredients.
